The 50/50 is one of the most versatile positions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – predominantly when it comes to Leg Locks. It gives you ample opportunities for a Heel Hook attack, and even for Kneebars, that a lot of other positions don’t.
However, it also gives your opponent an opportunity to go for these same submissions. Therefore, you need to learn how to successfully defend against them, which isn’t always a simple task.
The 50/50 can be quite a tricky position in Jiu-Jitsu… Especially if the match is in the gi.
