The Collar Sleeve Guard is an extremely versatile guard that can bring you lots of success on the mats. And if you’ve been playing with it for a while now, then here’s a setup that you will thoroughly enjoy!
Taylor Pearman demonstrates and explains.
COLLAR SLEEVE TO OMOPLATA… TO CHOKE SETUP
Starting from the Collar Sleeve Guard, Taylor has one foot on the training partner’s bicep muscle and his other foot on the shoulder. Then, as his training partner (as your opponents will) starts putting pressure on him and walking to the side, Taylor shoots his hips up and his leg through behind the “shoulder-post” armpit.
He pushes the partner’s arm deep inside his “hip-pocket” and then locks up an Omoplata over their arm.
But this isn’t all, folks. He keeps his collar grip in order to prevent the training partner from posturing up… And then, he reaches to the back of the opponent’s hip and sits up, grabbing it. He switches his legs and starts to stand up.
From there, Taylor opens up his partner’s jacket and gets a new grip on the back of their neck (on the collar). Then, he dives over his shoulder and, as he does so, hooks the training partner’s leg.
Once you do this, your opponent will be stuck in place. All that you’ve got to do from here is to grab a hold of the opponent’s collar on the opposite side and do a scissoring motion with your other hand on the other side… To get an effortless tap!
