When you make a mistake, do you blame others for it… And when you succeed at something, do you take all the credit every time?
Well, if that’s the case, then you should reconsider your mindset – as it’s not a productive one.
Fabio Gurgel explained why in an interview with Andre Galvao:
There’s a book by Jim Collins, “From Good To Great”. It is a business best seller.
And he says the following: “When you make a mistake, you look in the mirror and take the blame.
When you succeed, you look out the window and see who helped you.”
Why so? Because the mistakes you make, you should take full responsibility for them.
And the successes you reap, you never reap them just because of what you have done:
Because you never do anything alone.
You now have a big personal challenge coming; look at the team helping you, look how many people are with you, the entire Jiu-Jitsu community is on your side. So, when you succeed, you share that success with others. And when you make a mistake, it’s your reflection. “How could I have done differently?”
The thing about blaming others, first, is that it does absolutely nothing.
And you miss a great opportunity to develop yourself.
