An Easy Armdrag Defense

OK, this is a quick post because it’s only a short video that I filmed right before training today…

If someone tries to armdrag you they’re usually gripping your triceps area with their cross hand and pulling you hard, trying to either get behind you or elicit a pulling reaction.  And it’s a legit threat, because a good armdrag can set you up for a number of things, including…

Anyway, getting caught in an arm drag is bad, and you need a solution that works for you.

The video at the top of the page breaks down the easiest defense to the armdrag.

Essentially it’s as simple as taking your other hand and jamming it between your body and your opponent’s chest in a reverse ‘Judo chop’ sort of motion.  This breaks the momentum and allows you to extract your captured arm relatively easily!

The video is just barely over a minute long so make sure to check it out.

And if you haven’t done so already, go and grab my Roadmap for BJJ book.  It’s a free PDF download and it’s full of my best tips for learning BJJ and getting good as fast as possible.

Stephan
