If you want to be on top of your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and mixed martial arts game, then you simply have to become proficient in Leg Locks. Without knowing how to both apply and defend from them, you’ll have a difficult time reaching the pinnacle of your success.
That’s something that Dana White’s Contender Series (DWCS) competitors understand very well. At DWCS 45, the main match showed the power of Leg Locks once more – as Gadzhi Omargadzhiev submitted Jansey Silva with a nasty Kneebar.
Omargadzhiev grabbed Silva’s right leg as the two engaged on the canvas in the opening round. At first sight, it looked like Silva would manage to escape from the submission, as he landed a big punch on his opponent and as Omargadzhiev couldn’t seem to get the right angle for the Kneebar.
However, he continued to adjust and crank Silva’s leg. Eventually, he hyperextended it so much that Silva had no other choice than to tap out.
Omargadzhiev is now at a 13-0 record in professional MMA, with this fight earning him a UFC contract; for Dana White was impressed with the middleweight’s submission-oriented performance.
Silva did not earn a contract, but he also doesn’t seem to be injured either; which is a good thing, considering the force of Omargadzhiev’s Kneebar.
