Try This Choke From Side Control (Following A Kimura Setup)

Is Side Control your favorite position in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu? Do you enjoy setting up submissions from it… Especially the Kimura? If that’s the case, then you’re going to absolutely love this choke setup!
It’s done off of a Kimura setup – Nick “Chewy” Albin demonstrates and explains below.

CHOKE SETUP FROM SIDE CONTROL

To start setting up this choke, you’ll first have to block the opponent’s hip with your knee. Then, with your “far” hand, you’ll circle around their neck and grab their chin. This is called a “Chin Strap” and it’s exactly what it sounds like; you’re just using it to strap the opponent’s chin and keep it in place. It’s still not the time to get your submission in.

Once you’re in this position, you need to lower your head and place it against the opponent’s chest. This is done so as to make it difficult for them to defend by grabbing their arm.
From here, you need to “punch” your hand through, over the opponent’s neck, and place your fist on top of their artery. Grab the wrist of this arm with your other hand, shift your hips so that you’re square against the mat and drive into the opponent while squeezing with your fist and hand.

Watch how to do this on the video below:
