All submissions are great. But some are greater than others – such as the Wrist Lock. For, no matter how you feel on the receiving end of it, there’s still something phenomenally “barbaric” about hitting it, be it in training or in competition.
And if you’re a true fan of this submission, then you’re going to love the following setup from Side Control. It’s surprisingly simple, plus quite easy to lose friends because of it. So be careful.
BARBARIC WRIST LOCK SETUP FROM SIDE CONTROL
To use of this Wrist Lock setup, you’ll take advantage of your training partner’s framing arm. When they post on your shoulder, you’ll take a hold of their elbow and pin it to the ground; and then rock back a little bit. The purpose of doing this is to create space between yourself and their hand.
Then, make sure that their elbow is far away from their ribcage. If it’s close to it, simply use the length of your forearm to fry it open.
From here, you need to position yourself over the training partner’s hand in such a way that your chin is over the hinge of their wrist. Now, tuck your chin in so as to bend it.
Once you’ve done that, drop your shoulder onto their fingers. But don’t just drop it straightforwardly; instead, change the angle of your chest so that you almost start facing their far-sided hip… And you’ll get the tap soon enough.
