When a person gets really good at the butterfly guard, they can become a very frustrating opponent to face. With the constant threat of sweeps and submissions that come with a good butterfly guard, passing is made difficult. Each movement is precarious and could end with you on your back or tapping out.
However, Steve Hordinski of Relson Gracie BJJ in Littleton, Colorado shows us a simpler way to do things. He sets us up with a very simple guard pass to overcome the butterfly hooks. The pass leads right into a triangle choke. Though it might look a bit complicated, it is actually a very simple movement to perform. Check it out, and let us know what you think.
