Podcast: How My Diet Experiment Could Have Gone Terribly, Horribly Wrong…

I recently gave the full-on ketogenic diet a try (which I discussed in episode 173 of my podcast – Self Experimentation and Limiting the Downside of Experiments Gone Wrong).

For a month I consumed very few carbohydrates and hugely increased the amount of saturated fat I was eating.

A typical ‘breakfast’ was a shake made of whipping cream, coconut milk, spinach and blueberries with about 1,000 calories coming from fat.

Now this isn’t necessarily as crazy as it seems because the ketogenic diet is really hot right now for weight loss, health, disease prevention and longevity.

Many people on this diet report that their cholesterol and blood lipid profile actually improves.

But not me.

In fact when when your doctor calls you in a panic with the results of your bloodwork then it really drives home the fact that in the ketogenic diet, as with all diets, individual results may vary.

Episode 179 of The Strenuous Life Podcast is a followup to episode 173. I share exactly what I ate, how my energy changed, and how my bloodwork went absolutely crazy.

If this topic interests you then go grab episode 179 about the details of my ketogenic diet experiment.

By the way, podcasts are free and they play on podcast players that you probably already have on your phone!
