If you find yourself without options when an opponent clams up in the all-fours position, instructor Mauro Ayres of Mauro Ayres BJJ in Ipanema has something for you.
Today he teaches two techniques for attacking an opponent who’s stalling. In the first, with the gap offered by his opponent, Mauro gets the arm in and pulls straight to the armbar. In the second transition, when there is no space to act, Mauro creates the space by putting his weight on his opponent to then flip and advance into the north-south position.
To study these positions and beat annoyingly defensive opponents, check out the following video.
