Be honest with us… How many times have you been done with your Jiu-Jitsu class, only to feel frustrated and stressed out about it afterwards?
Perhaps things weren’t going your way. Maybe you’ve tried that newly-taught technique – which you thought you understood – and failed every single time. Or perhaps you were absolutely dismantled by your training partners… And now you feel like you’re not making any progress whatsoever.
Well, here’s the thing: there will be days when you feel as if nothing is going your way. But even on those days, you should think back to Jiu-Jitsu for what it is – an outlet. An outlet, which makes you healthier and is supposed to make you feel more fulfilled with your life.
Tom DeBlass often reminds his students about this:
One thing I tell my students, is when they get on the mats to leave all their problems behind. For the hour you get on the mats focus on nothing but yourself and your own self improvement. Life is so stressful, we need something for ourselves especially as adults. Watching Monday night football isn’t enough.
Remember, Jiu-Jitsu is supposed to be your outlet so do not leave stressed. Do not create problems that do not exist and do not compare yourself to others. Leave feeling proud!
