If you’re looking to improve your Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu to the best of your abilities, then you’ve probably been thinking about introducing a supplement or two into your diet plan. However, choosing the “right” supplement can be notoriously difficult – as there are so many options out there! From whey protein, creatine, BCAAs, to all sorts of vitamins… It can be a tough decision.
Luckily enough, there are two things that you can do to find out which supplements are the best for you. Nick “Chewy” Albin explains.
WHICH SUPPLEMENTS TO TAKE FOR BJJ?
First of all, you should understand that what works for one person might not work for you. Just because someone takes a supplement “A” doesn’t mean that you shouldn’t go for the supplement “B”.
To start figuring out what you should take, Chewy underlines the importance of keeping a training journal. In it, you need to write down not just what you did during training, but also how you felt before and after it, as well as what you ate prior to stepping onto the mats. With time, this will give you an insight into which foods (and supplements) make you perform better and which hinder your performance.
Secondly, you should get your bloodwork done. This will show you what exactly your body needs more of – without the need to second-guess yourself.
Chewy explains these two tactics in more detail on the video below:
