Avoid Injuries In Training & Win More Competitions By Rolling This Way

It’s easy to fall in love with Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. In the feeling that just stepping onto the mats gives you, the laughter with your training partners and friends, and the immersion of doing something that is difficult every day… It’s tremendous! And because of that, you might be tempted to go hard in training, every single time.
That might not be the best thing to do, however. If you want to avoid injuries, improve faster, and be more successful in competition – you need to roll in a different way.

AVOID INJURIES AND BECOME BETTER BY ROLLING LIKE THIS

If you go hard all the time, you not only risk getting injured, but you’re also potentially missing out on a lot of opportunities to become better in BJJ. So, the next few times you roll, roll light. Approach it like a flow roll, but with slightly more aggression.
For example: if you set up a Rear Naked Choke and start squeezing, but your training partner isn’t tapping out, then don’t just squeeze on their neck mercilessly. Instead, transition to something else, or try setting up the choke in a different way.

This approach will both help you progress more (as you’re trying out new stuff and not just sticking to the tried-and-tested methods), but it will also help you avoid injuries. Oh, and keep your training partners injury-free as well.
