¨The Black Beast¨ Derrick Lewis, might like talking trash, but deep down inside, he´s a true humanitarian — even when those humans are waving flags that were once flown by people who sought to keep his relatives enslaved.
As many of you are certainly aware, Texas has been beaten down by Hurricane Harvey. Houston is currently flooded.

Lewis, who has lived in the South all of his life, is doing his part to help those in need, and one of those people in need was a man with a confederate flag.
¨I don’t care about that,” Lewis said about the fact that the man had a confederate flag. “I live in Texas. It ain’t nothing new. I’ve been living in the South all my life, and it ain’t nothing I hadn’t seen before or discussed about. I don’t care about that type of stuff. I just wanted to help him.¨

Derrick continued:
I’ve always been that type of guy that I like to help people more than I like to help myself. And so I just seized the opportunity. The police, they kept getting on the news and saying that they’re not going to help no one unless it’s a life-or-death situation. Basically, the firefighters said the same thing.
In an era of polarized politics, Derrick Lewis is the type of person we need on the streets.
