Saturday’s Show the Art – Finishers Sub-Only 4 event was an all-around success, with the spectators being entertained and many talented competitors taking home cash prizes for their hard-earned wins.
The under-150 women’s division — the first female division for the promotion — was won by MMA fighter and recent Fight to Win Pro victor Amanda Leve. The winner of the men’s absolute division was Dan Martinez, who defeated some of the sub-only scene’s toughest competitors. Each champion took home a $2,000 cash prize for their victory.
Leve and Martinez weren’t the only competitors whose wallets are a bit fatter now — Sara Monzegilio won $250 for the fastest submission of the event thanks to the armbar she nailed in just 53 seconds. Jesseray Childrey took home $300 for the best non-leglock submission, which he executed in the form of an arm triangle from bottom half-guard. Finally, Jess Feliciano earned $200 for putting on the best “break-out performance.” In total, the event paid out $4,750 to its competitors.
Promoter Abraham Awad had this to say about the competition:
“The Finishers 4 turned out to be an amazing event. All the competitors not only put on a show for the crowd, but displayed really technical jiu-jitsu. Dan Martinez won the absolute division with precision and sharpness. Amanda Leve showed her dominance as she submitted all her opponents to win our first women’s division. She has a bright future ahead of her! Of course, Grace Gundrum took part in a highly entertaining match with her opponent Jasmine Johnson. All around, we are very happy with the results and we can’t wait for the next one!”
