Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu comes with so many benefits; and not just in regards to your health, but to your everyday life as well. Sure, you do become healthier, more confident, and happier while on the mats… But you carry so much more off the mats, too.
For instance, you learn more about gratitude. And you learn how to become much more thankful, for just about everything.
Here’s a perspective on gratitude from Professor Ryan Young, from Kama Jiu-Jitsu.
HOW BJJ TEACHES YOU GRATITUDE
Professor Young shares a story about a student who was a police officer and who led a police academy. The student was an older one and a BJJ blue belt, whom Professor Young gave many opportunities to; such as training the academy members for free and even giving him an opportunity to teach kids classes and become a part of a kids instructor teaching program at no cost at all (it usually cost $500 per month).
However, the student didn’t seem to think too much of these chances. Soon enough, he stopped training under the guise of being injured all the time. But then, soon enough, Professor Young saw him at a competition – where the ex-student was competing for a different team and announcing that he’ll open up a police training program at that school.
Now, this did make Professor Young a bit mad, because the student didn’t have to lie to him. And because he tried to invest so much into him. But, instead, the Professor chose to be grateful about it; grateful that the student found a place where he enjoys training.
We can all learn much from this perspective on gratitude. Watch the video below to further realize how:
