Americanas are pretty easy to anticipate, which is why they usually become less effective the more experience your opponent has. But if you really like this fundamental submission, try doing it from guard instead of from side control or mount.
Here, Kahala Jiu-Jitsu‘s head instructor Daynin Dashefsky demonstrates how to execute an Americana from guard. Whether this is enough to submit your opponent or it convinces them to move with the submission and give you a sweep, this can be a good tool to add to your BJJ toolbox.
