Jiu-Jitsu is a culture, and culture is a process of constant evolution and motion. One sign proving this theory is the de la Riva guard, a position ever more used by lighter fighters in championships and academies.

An offshoot of the de la Riva guard, the berimbolo is being developed from a number of angles—for both attacking and defending.

Today it’s brown belt Thomas Mastwo of Alliance Orlando’s turn to contribute to this evolution, with his innovative “berimbraço”.
