Got Swept From Mount? Go For This Armbar Setup

One of the biggest mistakes that lower belts make in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu is giving up. And no, we’re not talking about the blue belt who quit the moment he got promoted; but the situations in which you give up on submissions way too easily. Those situations when your first attack or two don’t succeed, so you kind of call it quits and just resort to being on total defense.
But just because something didn’t go your way doesn’t mean that you won’t be successful in the next move you try to hit – or the one after it! For example, getting swept from Mount is not good… But when it happens, you may be able to go for an Armbar!

Jake Scovel demonstrates one such option.

ARMBAR AFTER BEING SWEPT FROM MOUNT

This Armbar setup will require you to have isolated the opponent’s arm in one way or another before getting swept. For instance, maybe you were going for an Arm Triangle when the opponent swept you to the side you were attacking.
It’s important that you don’t let go of their arm here (if you’ve isolated it well). Jake Scovel demonstrates that you’re simply supposed to keep it extended, climb your guard on top of the opponent’s shoulders… And turn the corner for a tight Armbar.
