Dear Santa, Here’s My Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu Wish List

Dear BJJ Santa Claus,

I have been a good boy this year. I did not wear a stinky, nacho cheese smelling rash guard to class; I did not show up purposely late to miss the warm up; and I did not leave my empty water bottle on the mats for the staff to clean up.

Here is my BJJ wish list for this Christmas.

1) A new kimono. Even though your closet might be stacked like the shoe closet of the infamous Imelda Marcos, everyone loves getting a new gi.

Make mine white with off stitching and a cool gi bag.

2) A 2-hour private lesson with Rickson Gracie (next week I’ll have an article about a black belt who had a 3.5 hour private with Rickson). I want to work on how to maintain and control mount and rear mount.

3) For my crypto currency investment to sky rocket and with the windfall get on a flight to San Diego and rent an apartment a couple of blocks from the University of Jiu-jitsu. That way, I get to train with two of the world’s best instructors, Saulo and Xande Ribeiro, in one of the best jiu-jitsu cities in the world.

I can wear my new white gi there.

4) A nutritional supplement that will reduce my joint pain. Something I can mix into my coffee every morning would be nice.

5) A few new Under Armour rash guards and briefs. I wear those more than regular clothes.

6) The Modern Leg Locks DVD set by Grapplearts. I got to “get a leg up” on my leg lock game. All this time I thought the “honey hole” was something different.

7) For Anthony Bourdain to visit my academy when he is traveling and come for a roll. If he can pass my guard I will buy him noodle soup for lunch.

8) A new set of soft mats in my gym that make getting thrown easier on the body. Those mats should be over a sprung floor that is more forgiving of us older grapplers.

9) Some new documentaries about BJJ academies and jiu-jitsu fighters from all over the world that I can enjoy while sipping an Acai-laced egg nog while the snow falls outside.

Thank you BJJ Santa!
