Ever since 28 year old Ian Edge stepped on an unexploded IED while serving in Afghanistan in 2011, his life has been a struggle. wtxl.com News reported Edge suffered various injuries, including two amputations, and says that it was the thought of letting his family down that kept him going.
Now this Tallahassee amputee finds comfort in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and over Labor Day weekend was one of 15 athletes from North Florida and South Georgia who took part in a competition in Atlanta. Edge has definitely come a long way since the day when he limped into the Zicro Academy in Tallahassee and decided that he was in the right place. Felipe Nato, the owner of the academy agrees that Edge has come a long way since then and remembers vividly the day when Edge came limping in the door, looking somewhat out of place. “I found confidence in myself again,” he said. “It just improved my life in a lot of ways.”
