One of the keys to passing the guard effectively and efficiently is controlling the grip battle.
But a quality opponent always be trying to block your grips. Not only that: he wants to attack you with sweeps and submissions so at the same time he’ll be trying to ensnare you with his own set of grips.
As a result, when you’re passing the guard you’ll often end up in a pseudo-symmetrical stalemate. You might have your grips (kind of, sort of) but he’ll also have his grips.
Even if you do eventually manage to pass his guard it’ll be a lot of work!
Wouldn’t it be nice if you could just get whatever grips you wanted while, at the same time, denying him his grips?
Well, in the video below I share a sneaky trick learned from Rob Biernacki that’ll make getting to your preferred guard pass much easier.
It’s less than 4 minutes long, so check it out. It might just give you an unfair advantage against those flexible guard-playing gumby guys in every school the next time you roll!
