Anytime someone’s hand or arm gets too high on your body. You have the ability to catch them in a submission. And there are a number of different submission options to choose from.
In this video I show using the straight armlock from guard to attack a person who isn’t keeping their hands in the best spot possible.
The straight armlock is one of my favorite submissions in BJJ because of it’s versatility. It works from so many different positions and angles.
In the video I show some basic ideas on using this submissions from full guard, half guard and butterfly guard. And I share my idea on basic concepts and tips on catching the arm lock effectively. So if you are using this move. You might find new ways and areas to set it up.
Again, the versatility and also the options off of the armbar make this one my favorite submissions in BJJ. Even if the straight arm lock fails. You typically have a strong angle on the person that you can then attack from. Either to string together more submissions or possibly advance position.
So if you train BJJ and you don’t use this submission. Give it a try and see if you can add it into you arsenal.
You can check out some more options form this armlock for your Brazilian Jiu-jitsu game in this video as well.
