Beware rollers of a certain generation. When this next crop of young practitioners hit adulthood, we’re gonna get slaughtered.
Regardless of age, size, or gender, this highlight real from Zoe Farry’s (daughter of 10th Planet black belt Curtis Hembroff) match against fellow young warrior Bella Hilario at the Onnit Invitational is impressive stuff. Both boast the agility, aggression, and confidence of athletes twice their age, and deliver the kind of high-energy competitive jiu-jitsu we all wish would could see on the regular. Hilario is a little savage, but Farry manages to sink the submission at the end of the match.
For the record, Zoe is 8 years old. Eight. She’s been training since she was 4.
Leave the macho nonsense commentary and “yeah, well IF…” quips at the door. The future of the sport is in the hands of these athletes and they deserve our support and respect.
