The Kimura is one of the most dangerous and versatile submissions in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu. Once you get it truly locked in… Your opponent is going to be in heaps of trouble. Which was exactly the case for Wade Johnson in his CFFC 103 match against Trevor Ollison last Friday (November 19).
Their bout took place on the main card of the evening, and Ollison set out for the submission finish immediately from the get-go. Eventually – and after a rather wild scramble – he locked a nasty Kimura against Johnson.
With the Kimura still in place, he brought his opponent down to the mats, where he relentlessly worked for his finish – twisting Johnson’s hand high up towards his scapula, until he got the verbal tap.
Ollison, who also competes in professional boxing, has therefore secured his fifth professional MMA win. Check it out on the video below:

HOW TO IMPROVE YOUR KIMURA?
If you now feel additionally motivated to work on your Kimura, you should be. Here’s one surefire way to improve your success rate with this submission: keep the opponent’s posture broken.
When you’re looking for the finish, remember that one leg should be placed over your opponent’s back in order to keep their posture down. Make sure to keep the leg towards the opponent’s upper back, because if it’s placed too low, he or she can posture up and relieve the pressure from the submission.
