During a Donald Trump rally in Virginia, a group of Black Lives Matter protesters interrupted the rally, which prompted Time Magazine photographer Chris Morris to attempt to leave the press area to shoot the protesters. Morris claimed he was stopped by a Secret Service agent, who then took Morris down when he attempted to shoot the protesters. When Morris hit the ground, he played some decent open guard by using his legs to control the distance between himself and the Secret Service agent. While Morris likely never trained BJJ, it does show man’s basic instinct to use his legs in an “open guardlike defensive position” when taken down by an attacker and its effectiveness in preventing an attacker from engaging and causing further damage.
