3x National Champion in Wrestling, Brandon Reed recently competed in Montreal, Quebec, Canada at the local SAU (Submission Arts United) competition.
This was the first Brazilian Jiu-jitsu/ Grappling competition since the sport was officially banned about 7 years ago and Brandon’s first BJJ tournament in a few months (coming off some injuries)
Brando got all the way the final displaying impressive Wrestling and Jiu-Jitsu, where he faced a formidable opponent: Javad Mahjoub of Iran, who also happens to be a 3x Judo Olympian. This was one Brandon’s biggest challenges yet.
Brandon 2 tough matches before this one and Javad had two quick submissions. They met in the finals of the Open Weight Bracket.
Javad also happened to be a well-known Brown Belt in BJJ who recently took 2nd at the ADCC Canada Open, falling to Big Dan from New Wave BJJ in a crazy match.
This was your classic College Wrestler vs. Black Belt in Judo match with a bit of Jiu-jitsu spice added into it.
Brandon stated:
“I mean no disrespect to Javad with this video. He is a friend, a warrior, an amazing human being, and someone I respect so much. Today was just my day and tomorrow could be his.”
