Once you have the kimura locked into place, your opponent has very limited options on how to escape, and your chances of getting the tap are super high. One of those options, however, involves your opponent straightening out their arm, and many BJJ practitioners believe that an armbar or wristlock is their only opportunity for a submission from there.
In this clip, Invisible Jiu-Jitsu‘s David Morcegao demonstrates the “Morcemura,” which lets you get a shoulder submission even after your opponent straightens their arm to defend the kimura. Give this a try and add it to your jiu-jitsu technique arsenal!
