The heavyweight finals match of the previous weekend’s Who’s Number One (WNO) Championships had a surprising end to it. The hugely favored Kaynan Duarte lost to the underdog Tim Spriggs via Heel Hook; a self-proclaimed “hobbyist” who trains only 3 times per week.
Following the win, Spriggs took his time to call out Gordon Ryan for a match:

Needless to say, it didn’t take long for Ryan to respond. He is happy to take on the match, once he feels healthy enough:
You make fun of my opponents, but I’ve beaten more ADCC medalist than anyone in history. The only reason you’re not on that list is because not only can you not medal at ADCC, you can’t make it passed the 1st day. Once I am healthy, even a little better, I’m happy to compete against you. Free money is the best money.
Spriggs answered in favor:
The only failed Jiu Jitsu career is yours. Let’s be honest, you can lie to your fans, you can lie to me, but not to yourself. You know you quit competing in the Gi because you knew you couldn’t win at the elite level… But if you answered the above question that I’m still a hobbyist (which I am), then I’m ready to get our exhibition match going.
