The Scissors Sweep: A Mini Tutorial

I have a fond place in my heart for the scissors sweep. It was the very first technique that worked for me in live rolling and it has served me well throughout my training career.

Sometimes dismissed as a basic move or “old school” BJJ, the scissors sweep is a a powerful guard position from which you can build a guard game.

Let’s start with the basic sweep and then see what other options and variations are available.
