Eddie Bravo and Vinicius “Draculino” Magalhaes will come up against each other as coaches for opposing teams in a “Third Coast v West Coast” event. The event is being staged by Third Coast Grappling and is set for August 29th, 2020 in Los Angeles, California. This is the latest in a series of groundbreaking events that Third Coast Grappling has set up, starting with Third Coast Grappling 4 where Nick Rodriguez takes on Pat Downey in a rematch under hybrid rules. Only two months after this, 3CG will be taking a trip across the pond to the UK to co-promote a UK vs USA event. This new addition to a packed 2020 schedule will mean that 3CG will be branching out across the United States and into Europe in the same year.
At the same time, they’ve also broken new ground in publicly announcing that Gordon Ryan has been awarded a non-exclusive six-figure contract across five matches. Not just this, but they’ve also announced the intention to become the first promotion to host a children’s tournament that provides a scholarship prize fund to the winner.
Third Coast Grappling’s head, Ryan McGuire, confirmed the news on facebook and 3CG Radio recently. The Third Coast v West Coast event will see two teams of athletes headed up by Eddie Bravo and Draculino face off against each other across a series of ten matches. The first five will be No Gi and under EBI rules, with Bravo picking his athletes first. Then the tables turn for the final five matches as they will be contested under 3CG rules with Draculino picking his athletes first. This unique setup should allow for a completely level playing field as two legends of BJJ will field teams of elite grapplers against one another.
