Ten-time Jiu-Jitsu world champion, Roger Gracie seems to have changed his mind about retiring from MMA.

During the IBJJF Hall of Fame dinner, held one day before the 2014 Worlds, Roger stated that he was going back to Jiu-Jitsu after retiring from MMA.

0_HayabusaGi_StampSiteToday, in a interview for the Brazilian website Lance, Roger said that he changed his mind because of a proposal he received: “I’m talking to an event and I should announce my return to MMA in the next days. My plan is to fight again this year. I was retired, but the offer I got was so good that I reconsidered my decision.”

Roger also confirmed that he will be fighting in the light-heavyweight division (205lb): “It was a mistake to try to go down to middleweight. At 185lb, I was never 100%.”

In closing, Roger took a shot at the UFC, which did not offer him a new contract after his last fight: “They are kind of a monopoly and so they control how much each fighter gets paid, and it’s not that much. I have my academy, so I don’t need the money from the fights to live by.”

Roger Gracie has a 6-2 record in MMA.

His last fight was against Tim Kennedy, at UFC 162, when he lost by unanimous decision after three rounds.
