Victor Hugo was coming hot on the heels of a quick finish over Aaron “Tex” Johnson in the first round at No Gi Worlds 2019. Vinicius “Trator” Gazola had built up similar steam heading into this matchup when he bested Sergio Raimundo Rios Da Silva in a grueling fight to win on points. The difference a full length match makes on an athlete was pretty evident right from the outset but Trator took everything Hugo could throw at him down the ten-minute stretch.
The match was constant back-and-forth action, it was unbelievably close as neither man was able to score points. Trator had managed one advantage to Hugo’s three and one penalty. Victor Hugo got his hand raised in the end and he moves on to the openweight semi-finals coming up against Marcelo Gomide for a medal position.
