Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu fans love Mikey Musumeci not just because of his extraordinary skills… But also because he’s known as one of the humblest and kindest people in the sport.
And he exemplified that yet again in a recent social media post… Emphasizing that just because you’re successful, it doesn’t mean that you’re any better than other people are. And that, when it all comes together, material possessions don’t matter – but the impact you’ve left on others does:
Just because you won a world title in an activity doesn’t make you above or better than anyone else. You can be an idiot and loser in life (which a lot of world champions and “successful” people are unfortunately).
One day, we will all die and we will all die the same with no titles or materials to show off to others. The only thing that will stay is the impact you had on others around you.

But as humble as Mikey is, he still wants to be the best. And he thinks that he knows what makes the separation between him and other athletes:
I think all the competitors I can be with are amazing, but I think what separates myself is my obsession.
I’m never not thinking of Jiu-Jitsu, every hour in the day I’m thinking of it. So, I think that my obsession separates me.
