Miesha Tate is coming back.
ESPN has reported that Tate will face off against Marion Reneau during a yet-unnamed UFC event on July 17. A location for the event has not yet been disclosed.
Tate announced her retirement from professional MMA in 2016 following consecutive losses to Amanda Nunes and Raquel Pennington. She went on to become a Vice President and ambassador for ONE Championship in 2018.
Tate came to the UFC in February 2013 as one of the promotion’s first female fighters, having earned a championship title at Strikeforce before the move. She went on to build an infamous rivalry with Ronda Rousey and later claimed the UFC Bantamweight Championship title after submitting Holly Holm at UFC 196.
Tate’s “return from retirement” fight will also be Reneau’s last fight before retirement. The 43-year-old fighter joined the UFC in 2015 and went on to defeat names like Jessica Andrade and Sara McMann. She’s currently on a four-fight losing skid, most recently dropping a decision to Macy Chiasson at last weekend’s UFC Vegas 22.
