A reported argument in the audience at a Rize Fighting Championship show in Lake Worth, Florida, took a scary turn when a man fired his handgun into the air in the middle of the crowd.
TMZ was the first to report the incident.
After the main event had finished in the parking lot of the Bamboo Room on Saturday night, a scuffle broke out in the audience. UFC and Bellator veteran Hector Lombard was in attendance and shared footage of the moment the gun was fired.
The Palm Beach Sheriff’s Office told MMA Fighting that no one had been struck by the gunfire, and people who incurred minor injuries during the brawl had been treated.
Rize president Armando Gonzalez told WPBF that increased security is planned for future events. Bamboo Room co-owner Darren Cummings told the news outlet, “For us, I’m not sure we are going to allow these events anymore in our parking lot. We will stick to what we do, which is more live music.”
An investigation into the incident is ongoing, and no arrests have been made at the time of this writing.
