Memorial Day is a time when the nation comes together to remember those that have given their lives in defense of our freedom. For many who made it home, it is a bittersweet day to remember their comrades.
Brazilian jiu-jitsu blue belt, Joey Bozik, co-founded “We Defy Foundation” as an opportunity to help veterans battling PTSD and other combat related injuries. Joey is also a triple amputee, so he knows the struggle of re-entering civilian life.
BJJ schools around the country have partnered as We Defy training facilities, and one of those facilities is hosting a Memorial Day We Defy Fundraiser with all proceeds benefiting We Defy Foundation. American Martial Art Academy (AMAA) in D’iberville, Mississippi is proud of their partnership with We Defy. AMAA owner and BJJ brown belt, Jim Fiore, has welcomed four We Defy Athletes who train regularly.
Memorial Day weekend is a great time to give back to the men and women using jiu-jitsu to regain their strength, confidence, and drive. AMAA is hosting a roll-a-thon at their headquarters located at 3291A Warrior Drive, D’Iberville, MS 39540. Each participant will donate five dollars ($5) per roll. You can also donate online at We Defy Foundation Memorial Day Roll-A-Thon
