Last Saturday was a special one for GMA member Marcio Simas, leader of Gracie Barra Orlando, in Florida.
His BJJ blue belt Jonathan Brookins won The Ultimate Fighter 12 reality show big final, in Las Vegas.
Alongside with the prize money and the contract to be an UFC fighter, Brookins got his purple belt while he was still on the octagon.
Brookins, who was part of Team GSP fought teammate Michael Johnson and came out victorious with a unanimous decision by the judges.
Simas’ Facebook page is filled with congratulations from fellows professors, students and other fighters.
