There just wasn’t enough room in the ample setup at Cia Athlethica academy last Saturday in São Paulo. The reason being that Demian Maia – a Jiu-Jitsu champion and top-tier UFC fighter – conducted his first-ever seminar in Brazil. GRACIEMAG.com was there and witnessed it all up close.
More than one hundred participants, mostly from Cia Paulista and Brasa teams, but also from other cities, showed up to check out the techniques taught by Demian. The focus of the first part of seminar was on traditional Jiu-Jitsu. Then, everyone shed their gis to learn some positions and tricks for use in No-Gi Jiu-Jitsu and MMA.
At the end of each part of the seminar, Demian gathered the practitioners for questions and answers and to study positions.
“I was really pleased. Besides it being my first seminar in Brazil, it was the fullest one I’ve ever had,” said an enthused Demian, while downing a cup of açaí after the activities.
