After the recent events where two heavy competitors were not going to face off, one of them finally decided to break the silence and speak out. Jose Aldo has decided to provide his own thoughts on the interim belt and the incident itself. This UFC featherweight champion, who was forced out of the UFC 189 clash that was to take place with Conor McGregor after a rib injury, had released a statement on the effects of his injury and the UFCs decision, which was to create an interim title that would take place for the winner of the McGregor and Chad Mendes match. Dana Whites comments were also addressed, and Jose Aldo is planning on providing insight about his injuries. He has said that the belt is nothing more than a toy to him because he is still the champion, no matter what.
Jose Aldo
“If he beats Chad Mendes, the only thing he will have is a toy belt to show his drunk friends in his countrys bars, because thats what an interim belt represents to me: a toy. I am the champion.”
