While many fans may not realize it, the fact is that one of the most common and unseen practices in the MMA is rehydration through IV tubes. We know that weight cutting is getting pretty extreme, but there is one other practice that fighters do to get the competitive advantage. People are using IVs to kickstart their rehydration, bouncing back from weight cutting in order to get back their shape. It is one of the most tried and true methods for dealing with extreme dehydration, the type that you will go through when you drop ten pounds in a single day. New plans for policies against IV rehydrations are gonna help curb such problems.
Joe Rogan posted on twitter:
Not allowing fighters to use IVs for rehydration is dangerous and stupid. If you allow weight cuts allow IVs. https://t.co/U1VBs3C0wm
