A hero to guard players, the diminutive João Miyao was deservedly promoted to brown belt this Tuesday at the academy of Cicero Costha.
His brother, Paulo Miyao, another who came to fame by berimboling opponents all over the place, had reached the rank early in the year.
Now they are together again, to try and carry on with the success they’ve been having ever since they were the blue belts to beat in the light-featherweight division.
“I’m overjoyed with my new belt. I hope to come up with good results at brown belt. I know I may face black belts in some tournaments, but I feel it’s natural; it has to happen some time or another. I’m going to prepare myself really well to have good matches,” João told GRACIEMAG.com.
João Miyao already assured his travel to the WPJJC in Abu Dhabi as a purple belt last September.
