Late Tuesday night on popular Brazilian talk show “Programa do Jô”, Caetano Veloso introduced one of his newest songs: “A bossa nova é foda”, from his latest album, “Abraçaço”. In it, Caetano mentions the names of the UFC stars Rodrigo Minotauro, Junior Cigano, Lyoto Machida, Jose Aldo, Vitor Belfort and Anderson Silva.
“O velho transformou o mito das raças tristes / em Minotauros / Júnior Cigano / José Aldo / Lyoto Machida / Vitor Belfort / Anderson Silva / e a coisa toda / A bossa nova é foda”, the lyrics go in Portugues, meaning, “The old man transformed the myth of the sad races / into Minotauros / Júnior Cigano / José Aldo / Lyoto Machida / Vitor Belfort / Anderson Silva / and all the rest / bossa nova is something else,” loosely translated.
Junior Cigano, the current UFC heavyweight champion, and Rodrigo Minotauro were touched by the homage.
“I was mentioned in a song by one of Brazil’s greatest musicians,” exclaimed a jubiland Cigano.
