Training Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu – and competing in it – is a source of peace for many people…
And such was the case for Jeff Glover as well.
When asked by Jocko Willink on how his life looked like back when he started competing seriously, back in 2007 and 2008, Glover had a simple answer:
Jiu-Jitsu was the only thing was not chaotic. I mean… Just, life [was chaotic]: social life, family life, finances…
And how many times per week did he train during this time period? More than even some of the most elite of athletes do:
I mean… I would train in every class that I would teach. And I would take Mark’s classes, yeah.
So it was still, until recently it was, like, four times per day every day.
Pete “The Greek” Letsos added that training back then looks very much different to training today:
Eight to ten hours on the mat. We’d take naps, so… We had to take naps every once in a while, you know.
And you gotta be in nature… I think nowadays the training is different. Now we do more nature training.
It’s good to be outside a lot, surfing, you know what I mean? Ruotolos taught me how to surf. So I surf with them.
