Some people think they will progress in Brazilian jiu-jitsu in the same way they go up an escalator: a steady, comfortable, upward pace. Unfortunately, progress in BJJ can be more like a roller coaster: you’ll have highs where you say to yourself “Wow! I’m finally getting good!” Then you’ll have lows where you ask yourself why you even bother wasting your time.
Many practitioners also complain about hitting a plateau, where they claim they’re neither getting better nor worse.
So, how do you get out of these plateaus or dips?
