A lot of Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu athletes would, if they had an opportunity present itself, like to train under John Danaher. However, what is it actually like to train under one of the best coaches of all time?
Giancarlo Bodoni shared some of his own experience and perspectives of training under the famed BJJ coach – who’s like an “encyclopedia”:
I love training under John. For me, whenever I’m in a situation where I’m in a room where the standard is so high – I like the idea of living up to the standard.
So, John… Every move that he teaches, it seems like he has an answer for every question and every move he teaches – he teaches perfectly.
He’s like an encyclopedia, he knows so much.Sometimes, I could see why sometimes it could seem intimidating to be in a room like that. But for me, it just forced me to bring up my own standard. And that’s what led me to progress so quickly.
With that said, Bodoni emphasizes that John Danaher is extremely dedicated to his craft:
He’s also one of the most dedicated people you’ll ever meet. Like, for a guy that has so many physical issues, he is in the gym more than any one of the athletes.
