A father was arrested on Saturday after charging and tackling his son’s opponent in a high school wrestling match, according to a story from Fox 8.
The incident took place in Kannapolis, North Carolina and occurred after the man’s son, who attends Hickory Ridge High School, was on the receiving end of an illegal slam by the opposing wrestler, who attends Southeast Guildford High School. The referee signaled that the move was illegal, and a moment later, the suspect, Barry Lee Jones, ran onto the mats and tackled the SGHS student.
The SGHS student was reportedly uninjured after the scuffle, and Jones was arrested and charged with simple assault and disorderly conduct. He was later taken to the Cabarrus County Jail and received a $1,000 bond.
Video of the incident and the chaotic aftermath was captured at the event:
