In the main event at UFC—Diaz vs. Miller, the grappling skills of the Cesar Gracie student reigned supreme. Putting in a lively performance, Nate Diaz sunk a guillotine and tapped out Jim Miller in the second round. With the result, Dana White, the president of the UFC, stated that Nick Diaz’s younger brother shall get a shot at the lightweight title.

Thus, Nate awaits the winner of the August 11 rematch between current champ Ben Henderson and former champ Frankie Edgar. Should Henderson be successful in defending his title, Nate will star in a matchup between two gentle-art lovers. The two regularly don a gi and compete at major IBJJF events. Ben Henderson, for instance, took third at the 2011 Worlds as a brown belt.

Also noteworthy, Nate’s guillotine earned him and extra 65,000 dollars for being deemed the finest submission of the night. The knockout bonus went to Lavar Johnson for his undoing of Pat Barry. Now on the preliminary card Louis Gaudinot had a riveting encounter with John Lineker that the former won gia guillotine; however, both took home the extra cash for partaking in the “fight of the night.”

The choke seemed to be the go-to move of the evening. Besides the two aforementioned guillotines, Roland Delorme sunk a rear-naked choke on Karlos Vemola for the win. Now this time around Rousimar Toquinho’s Jiu-Jitsu did him no good, as he ended up getting knocked out by Alan Belcher after failed attempts at getting the submission.
