An experienced BJJ teacher trained at the traditional Gracie Humaitá school in Rio de Janeiro, Daniel Nova knows that, sometimes, an opponent doesn’t get the memo. At those times, it’s up to you to adapt in order to sink a submission despite your foe’s best defensive efforts.
In today’s lesson, Daniel teaches, aided by Vitor Terra, an efficient option for finishing someone via armbar, undoing even a relentless grip. Daniel places his crossed arms over his opponent’s forearm, so that he can do a hand-to-hand grip and open the padlock.
Note that Daniel doesn’t use too much force with his arms: the lever made with his elbows produces the torsion required to break the grip.
