“It all begins with a solid defense,” BJJ superstar Roger Gracie teaches. A specialist in the art of applying the basics to full effect, Roger recently posted a video showing an option for escaping the back-take and finishing via kimura.
In the video, Roger is swept, and his opponent ends up on his back. Without panicking, the teacher defends against the attack, avoids the hook and reverses the situation as he throws his hip over the opponent.
Roger then uses the grip he had done on the arm to go to side control with the kimura already in place.
